Early Intervention Home Based Services

Ages Birth to Three

Sunshine Therapy Club, Inc. provides early intervention services to children and families in natural environments. Therapists and special instructors use a multi-sensory approach to address developmental skills, cognitive, language, or sensory motor concerns. Our goal is to empower and support. We help parents to make every interaction with their child a learning experience. We focus on routines and help families work on those that are most challenging. A written contact sheet is completed and signed by the interventionist and parent/caregiver at the time of service. Parents are also provided a copy for their records. Interventionists provide annual assessments and may attend quarterly or annual MDE/IFSP meetings or Transition meetings.

Physical Therapy: Physical therapy services address the child's gross motor development. This includes evaluations and consultation services. The physical therapists work closely with the child's team, particularly the special instructor on motor outcomes.

Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy services address a child's fine motor, perceptual motor, visual motor, sensory motor, and oral motor needs. Services include assessments and consultation services. The occupational therapist works closely with the child’s team and provides recommendations and support for the special instructor on the team.

Speech Therapy: Speech therapy services include evaluation, consultation and intervention for language and communication needs of eligible children. Services address the development of expressive language and receptive language skills or even feeding concerns. The speech therapists work with the team to meet the child's communication outcomes.

Special Instruction: Special instruction services focus on all areas of development. This includes cognitive, social/emotional, language, physical development, and self help. Special instructors provide assessments and on-going services while consulting with various member of the child’s team. Our special instructors are required to take additional communication training.

Nursing: This family oriented service occurs in the child's natural environment and provides families with health counseling, health teaching, and wellness education to enhance early intervention services. This includes assessing and monitoring family responses to actual or potential health concerns, including, chronic illness, and risk of infection, weight management, general nutrition education, and monitoring of potential medication side effects - as these relate to the early intervention process. Services are consistent with the standards for professional nursing practices.

Social Work: A licensed social worker may provide interventions to advocate for, support and assist families in accessing community resources. Service may also include helping families navigate systems, provide family education and help them to maximize the early intervention process. Services may be recommended for an assessment or consultation as well.

Nutrition: An assessment or nutrition consultation may be recommended when a family has concerns about their child’s nutritional needs or weight gain. Services focus on education and support. To understand and provide optimum nutrition to infants and toddlers is paramount for development.
